Sale of Equity Oriented Mutual Funds

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the tax treatment for equity-oriented mutual fund redemptions where Securities Transaction Tax (STT) was not paid. Unlike sales where STT is applicable and taxed at 15% under Section 111A, redemptions without STT are taxed at the individual's slab rate. The user is seeking confirmation on whether this understanding is correct and how to report it in their tax return.
