22 September 2016 Sir, we have filed income tax return of one of our client for the assessment year 2015-16 on 22-08-2015 (Original Return) and submitted the ITR-V to CPC Bangalore and also processed. After some days the employer issued the corrected Form 16. After receiving the corrected Form 16 the salary would be increased and the tax liability will be increased and we have also filed the revised return with tax payable on 22-07-2016 for the assessment year 2015-16 and submitted the ITR-V to CPC Bangalore. In online login in WORKLIST MENU under the head FOR YOUR ACTION we have received defective return notice. But hard copy of the notice is not received. Please give me suggestion that whether we have to reply for online or wait for hard copy notice. or we have to pay the balance tax without notice.

23 September 2016 Please check in the intimation received on email u/s 143(1). From the perusal of the same you will get to know what is the error you made and why the CPC is demanding the additional tax. If there is no error of yours file a rectification online and if the demand made is correct , then you are required to pay it.
If the intimation has not been received , you can request for reissue of the same through your online income tax efiling account.
