Dear sir First time I filed income tax return for A. Y. 2017-18 intimation u/s 143(1) also received.Can i file My income tax return for A.Y.. 2016-17 today. Is there any penalty for the same.

You can file the return for AY 2016-17 today is the last date. Penalty will be maximum of Rs.1000 if your total income is less than Rs.5.00 lacs and maximum of Rs.10000 in case you rincome is higher

Penalty is usually not levied if there is a reasonable cause for belated return filing
