Hey! About resigning from a partnership firm and also intimating ICAI:
Resignation from Partnership Firm:
Partnership is governed by the partnership deed and Indian Partnership Act, 1932.
Generally, resignation needs to be as per the deed terms.
Even if the other partners don’t formally “accept” your resignation, you can serve a written notice as per the deed or law, and after the notice period, your resignation will be effective.
If they refuse to acknowledge, you might want to consult a lawyer to protect your rights.
Intimating ICAI:
Your resignation from ICAI membership or changes in firm membership need to be intimated separately to ICAI.
This is for ICAI’s records and for professional conduct compliance.
Intimations are generally sent to the Registrar Department or Membership Department of ICAI.
You can write a letter/email mentioning your resignation from the firm with details like your Membership Number, Firm Name, Date of Resignation, and request for updating the records.
The address and contact details are available on the ICAI official website under the Membership Services section.
