reserve & surplus

This query is : Resolved

08 November 2010 can an investment be written off from reserve & surplus if nothing is recoverable from such investment?

08 November 2010 AS-13 talks about the investment.

If the invt is a short term investment then valuation cost prices or net realise value (market price) in yuour cases u can take it NRV is zero and debited to P&L A/c

if long term then investment needs to written only if it is permenent dimunsion in the value of investments.

Perment reductions examples were given in the standard.

I hope this is clear to u.
