Hi All,
Please advise my uncle (A govt servant) has received arrears of Rs. 275,000/-in FY 12-13 (Further, his salary income will be Rs. 220000/- for FY 12-13)for years from 1997 to 2005. He doesn't have records for these years and he has not filed income tax returns for these years. How to claim relief u/s. 89

yes. infact the relief shall be calculated by the employer and your uncle not hav to worry for computation. he should ask form 16 and 12BA from his employer.

Still relief u/s 89 can be availed by NOW filing returns for all those past years to which these arrears relate
