26 September 2010 Hi,

Can anybody suggest me the procedure for selling shares held in physical forms.

if someone acquired shares in 1997 but he is not having D-MAT a/c. Now he want to sell shares then how can he sell?

Moreover what about the dividend not received for about 10 years, because the party has changed the address.

Kindly make suggestion.

Regarding PHYSICAL SHARES THERE ARE TWO CASES

TAKE AN EXAMPLE , IF YOU HAD BOUGHT "X" COMPANY ON 1997

CASE 1 : IF THE COMPANY IS LISTED IN "NSE" OR " BSE"

TAKE THE PHYSCIAL FORMS AND OPEN A D-MAT A/C ........FOR EVERT PHYSICAL INSTRUMENT THERE WOULD BE RS 25 CHARGE TO CHANGE FOR D-MAT (ELECTRONIC FORM)

CASE 2 " IF THE COMPANY NOT LISTED

SEND THE PYHSICAL FOMS TO COMPANY "X" IT SELF AND ASK FOR GOOD PRICE

THEN REGARDING TO CHANGE OF ADDRESS AND UNCLIAMBLE DIVIDENDS ASK THAT "X" COMPANY ONLY (SINCE THI IS PHYICAL FORMS)

For trasnfer of shares in physical form

1 get share transfer form nearest stock exchange now search for the transfree, the date on which the shares will be transfered ( date mentioned on transfer deed ) see the price of shares which will be your consideration amount mention it in transfer deed

2. you need to affex share transfer stamp valuing 0.25% of consideration value this stamps u will get in treasury

3.before this write a letter to company asking for documents required as per my knowledge for individual share cert, duly executed transfer deed and transfree PAN card is required

4. prepare the set and send it to Registrar and Transfer Agent of company or to the Company around 1 months time it takes for transfer post to sending documents

For dividend

firstly as per section 205 of Companies Act, 1956 un paid dividend after 7 years need to be transfered to IEPF account.
so u can claim last seven years dividend wite a letter to Company mentoning your folio no and full details and also send resquest on plain letter for change in affress along with add proof
