Hi
Could you please tell me the
Interest on balance in the provident fund account credited in excess of "8.5% is salary" or "9.5% is salary" ?
for the purpose of computing income under the head salaries

when was this amended from 9.5 to 8.5 which assessment year... please also give me some reference

As per law, still interest in excess of 9.5% is treated as a part of income and below 9.5% is not a part of taxable income at all..
