02 April 2008 My brother was in service for around 2 years hear in Ahmedabad although he is not filing his return. Now he went to Benglore in search of job, there they are asking for from-16. My question is can he now demand form 16 from his former employer and file his return. & for how many years?

03 April 2008 IT IS THE DUTY OF EVERY EMPLOYER UNDER IT ACT TO ISSUE FROM 16 ,WHEN THERE IS TDS.
YOUR BROTHER CAN ASK HIS FORMER EMPLOYER FOR FORM 16IF THERE IS TDS.
ONE HAS TO FILE RETURN OF INCOME (SALARY CLASS) BY 31 ST JULY 2007 FOR ASST . YEAR 2007-2008.IN THIS CASE AN INDIVIDUAL WILL ALSO BE ELIGIBLE TO FILE REVISED RETURN IF NEED BE.
IF THERE IS NO TAX DUE TO DEPT. THE IT RETURN CAN BE FILED ON OR BEFORE 31 ST MARCH 2008 FOR ASST. YEAR 2007-2008.
