Proforma invoice Number and The original Invoice Number should be same or they may be different and one more doubt is when we need to pay tax whether at the time of issue of proforma invoice or at the time of issue of original invoice

18 February 2011 Number of Proforma and Original invoice can be different. Proforma invoice is issued only for information, it is not sale of goods, so tax need not be paid at the time of issuance of proforma invoce. Tax is to be paid at the time of issue of orignal invoice
