25 March 2009 dear sir

IN OUR FIRM THERE ARE 10 STAFF BUT WE DONT HAVE PROFF TAX REG. SHOULD REGESTION DONE FOR PROFF TAX IF YES THE WHY AND ALSO SAY THE SLAB FOR PT DEDUCTION.

WE DONT HAVE ANY SALARY STRUCTURE THE AMOUNT PAD SAY RS 6000.00 & 12000.00 & 11500.00 & 23000.00 IS SAID TO BE SARARY WHAT SHOUL I DO

26 March 2009 You need to get registration under Profession tax and need to deduct the PT from salary of employees and pay to the govt.

The definition of salary as per profession tax is as follows and accordingly you need to determine the slab.

"salary" or "wage" includes pay or wages, dearness allowance and all other remunerations received by any person on regular basis, whether payable in cash or kind, and also includes perquisites and profits in lieu of salary, as defined in section 17 of the Income-tax Act, 1961, but does not include bonus in any form, and on any account or gratuity;

Accordingly the total salary should be consider for determining slab rate.
