1. TIN and TAN Fields: TIN (Taxpayer Identification Number) and TAN (Tax Deduction Account Number) are mandatory fields for PTRC filing as they identify the employer in the return. Without entering valid TIN and TAN, the utility may not allow validation or submission. 2. Employer Name Field Not Editable: Usually, the Employer Name field is auto-populated based on the TIN or TAN entered. It is designed to be non-editable to avoid manual errors. If it’s blank or not auto-filled, it may be due to: Incorrect or invalid TIN/TAN entered Macro settings or the data link not functioning properly 3. Validate Button Disabled: The Validate button activates only when all mandatory fields (including TIN, TAN, and Employer Name) are correctly filled. If Employer Name is blank (because TIN/TAN are wrong or missing), validation will be disabled. Also, if macros are disabled in your Excel settings, buttons won’t work. 4. How to Fix / Enable Fields and Buttons: Ensure Macros are Enabled: Go to Excel Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Macro Settings → Enable all macros or enable with notification. Correctly Enter TIN and TAN: Use valid, registered TIN and TAN as per your state and employer details. Check Data Source / Lookup: Some utilities fetch Employer Name from an internal lookup sheet based on TIN/TAN. Ensure lookup tables are intact and not corrupted. Don’t delete or hide any sheets or cells. Try Re-downloading the Utility: Sometimes, utilities get corrupted. Download the latest official PTRC utility from the state government’s website again. Avoid Manual Editing of Locked Fields: Employer Name is usually locked for editing. Trying to unlock may corrupt the file.
