Dear Sir,where can i get the documentary or statury provision for the same. Maharashtra Professional Tax officer is asking me to pay the Professional Tax on Professional Fees paid by the organsation.

Liability of the professional person. Not yours. It is different from state to state.

When you issue the Form 16A thatis TDS Certificate, it shows the total amount paid in the Quarter /yearly including the amount of Income tax (TDS). Income tax is levied on the income earned by the Central Governement.
Whereas Professional tax is levied by State laws, there may not be Professional tax in some of the states.
Professional tax are of two types thatis Employer getting registration under the PT Office & pays every year.
Employees PT registration refers to the amount deducted from the employees at the time of salary payment.
For Eg. In Karnataka monthly salary till Rs9,999/- no PT Rs10,000 to Rs14,999 -Rs150 & above Rs15000/- - Rs200
