Procedure to start a new book shop?

03 September 2011 If i am taking distribution of a leading book publisher will i have to take registaration under shop and establishment act? What are the other registaration i have to take? Also please advice me what is the procedure i have to follow if i am starting the business as a book shop instead of a distributor ??

04 September 2011 In the first initial stage Shop & Establishment Licence, which you have obtain in necessary.
If you have employee in your shop, to mention the tentative slabwise figure in the Certificate.This is not Permenent Certificate.In Maharashtra it should be renewed after every three years.If there were employee in your shop, the shop may be closed Weeklyoff,2 nd Oct, 15 th Aug, 26th Jan, 1st May.
In Maharashtra every businessman should pay Profession tax.It is given by Sales Tax Department.If your gross annual turnover is more than 5 lacs you should take Sales tax Number.Some person called it VAT or TIN.
You should also Profession Tax of your employees as per structure.
To Obtain PAN (the Unique Indentification Number by Income tax Department) is compulsory.To file regular, in due date income tax return is beneficial to the businessman.For further queries please to cotact 0253-2596104,0253-2593507
