Pls help urgent tax demand

27 September 2012 My brother filed his income tax return for Ay 2010-11 without including interest on housing loan.Now IT Dept has raised a demand for the tax effect.The original return was filed within due date.The CPC personnel asked to file a revised return. But what is the section i can specify for filing the revised return for AY 2010-11.Section 142(1),148,153A are the options given in ITR form.Pls explain with reasons for choosing a particular section.

27 September 2012 state the sec under which the notice is issued. Read the notice properly. It must contain the sec under which it is issued.

28 September 2012 If the notice don't state any sections then, only guessing work can be done. If possible than mention the important lines of the notice.

Well for sections you have asked , I think sec 148 will be applicable. Because 142(1) is applicable when no return of income is filled upto the due date. 148 is applicable when any income has escaped assessment. And 153A is applicable in case of Raid.
