25 May 2010 Dear Sir,

For lower TDS certificate income tax department want previous three years return copy but if a person has started fileing return from previous two years and he was having only previous two years return copy then what has to be submitted for lower TDS certificate or only previous two years return are sufficient.

I also want to know that when the person has two different companies whom he want to give this lower tds certificate then what is the procedure to get two certificate for two different departments and on one assessee name.

Please help me regarding the same.

25 May 2010 well, you need to have only one certificate and you can give a copy to both the companies of lower deduction. The certificate will be issued by the CIT of your respective ward.
You can give 2 years of TDS certificates... no problem in that. Just give a declaration in writing that your you have started filing return since last 2 years on a company letter head....

25 May 2010 As per my view, the department needs three years return to calculate an average rate of tax, and if you did not have filed return due to being below exemption limit, you can talk to Tax Department, whether any declaration would work. Or is there any other way to work out as Act doesn't define any such situation, surely two year's return would work.
