24 May 2025 Hello Sir/ Madam,

I wanted to add one challan in TDS return already filed. When I put request for correction on TRACES then file was available in download section but it was not opened with following passwords like TAN, combination of fourletters of TAN and PAN, Request number etc. Kindly give the password. Secondly, when it is available then when I click in that row it is not opened to add challlan. What shall I do. Is there any procedure changed. ?? Kindly reply

24 May 2025 Cannot Open the Row to Add Challan – What to Do?
If you're not able to click the row or add a challan in the correction file on TRACES, here’s what you should check:

🔍 Step-by-Step Fixes:
Use Correct Utility:

You must use the latest RPU (Return Preparation Utility) and FVU (File Validation Utility) from the TIN-NSDL or Protean website.

Download from: https://www.tin-nsdl.com or https://www.protean-tinpan.com

Use Consolidated File Only:

Make sure you are not trying to modify the Justification Report — it is for reference only.

The file to use for correction is Consolidated TDS File (Conso File).

Import Correct File in RPU:

Open the RPU.

Select "Correction".

Import the Conso File (unzipped and password opened).

Now you should be able to add challan and do other corrections.

Check Type of Correction Allowed:

If the TDS return has already consumed all the challans, ensure there’s scope to add new challan.

If not, you may need to revise with an "Add Challan" correction type explicitly.

🚨 Recent Procedural Updates (FY 2024–25):
Yes, TRACES and NSDL platforms have undergone UI and backend changes. Some corrections are now more strictly validated, and certain actions may only be permitted through:

Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)

Updated TRACES user rights

Also, ensure:

You are a registered and authorized person for TDS correction.

You’ve enabled JavaScript if using online tools.

Your browser is updated (preferably Chrome or Edge).

24 May 2025 Password = First 4 characters of your TAN (in **uppercase**) + Request Number (numeric part only)

24 May 2025 Common Mistakes:
Using PAN instead of TAN

Using lowercase letters in TAN

Adding the full request ID with prefix like "REQ" (use only numbers)
