Part - b of e-way bill

05 April 2018 As per the information shared by some sources, Transporters will update Part - B of E-Way Bill generated by Consignor/ Consignee.
But what if they don't update the details ?
1) Will there be any problem in Transit of Material ?
2) Can we update it while Material is in Transit ?
3) Can we update it later after Material has reached the destination ?

Most of the Transporters deny to give Vehicle Number while booking Material with them, saying they don't know as to which Vehicle will carry our Material.

Please advise.

06 April 2018 Part B is mandatory to be filed either by the consignor or the transporter, without which eway bill will not be generated.
If the transportation details like vehicle number or transport document number is not entered, then the system generates the temporary unique number as ‘Part-A Slip’.
Therefore, if the vehicle number is not known while booking the material, then it is transporters duty to fill in the vehicle number before moving the goods.

But it is been observed that most of the Transporters move Material without updating Part - B.
So

1) Will there be any problem in Transit of Material ?
2) Can we update it while Material is in Transit ?
3) Can we update it later after Material has reached the destination ?

07 April 2018 Transporter cannot move the goods unless the vehicle number is updated in the eway bill. Eway bill generation is mandatory before the movement of goods. You can also update the vehicle number and generate the eway bill. If you don't know the vehicle number, transporter has to update the same. Ask for consignment note in which they would mention the vehicle number.
