01 February 2011 Sir my assessee named DAVINDER SINGH applied for a PAN in 2009. He received the PAN but name was printed wrong on it as DALVINDER SINGH. But the letter accompanying the PAN had correct name on it. Also correct name is displayed while checking the PAN online in Department site.
Sir how can i arrange so that correct name is printed on PAN.?

apply correction form (form-49A)with correct name.

enclose the name proof, such as voter ID , Driving Licience, Passport any one.

01 February 2011 Actually i dont feel amendment is required as in Department records correct detail is there. Only mistake is in printing.

And can i just know the date of birth so that i can e file?

01 February 2011 You will have to apply for change in PAN. No other option available.

DOB is mentioned on PAN. Check from that and efile.

01 February 2011 No need to apply for change in PAN. Just file the correction form you will get corrected PAN Card. It is technical error but you have to file PAN correction form to get new PAN Card. No other option available.

01 February 2011 Differ with all experts. It is the mistake of NSDL. pl. make correspondence with NSDL, you will get corrected PAN.

If the matter was a few days or months old then your point is valid but the same had occurred in 2009 which is more than a year back. So i had mentioned earlier that you need to file a correction of PAN form.

02 February 2011 Thank you Aditya but in one case of a partnership,its PAN were wrongly alloted in series of HUF and we used to fime return in that PAN year after year. When E-return was made compulsory, that return was not accepted and then, we got alloted new numbers atleast after 5 years.
