Pan for getting bank's atm

16 February 2013 Dear Sir,

My friend ( having below taxable income ) is having bank account in a natioalized bank. Recently he applied for obtaining ATM card but the bank denied to issue ATM card because he is not having PAN card.

If a person not having taxable income, why should he apply for a PAN. And if PAN is not available, ATM is not being issued.

Any solution please......

16 February 2013 ITs simple to get a PAN Card these days and PAN is very helpfull this days. Basically there shall be no issues relating to issue of ATM but may be banks internal policies demand a PAN compulsorily.
I advise u to get a PAN for ur friend which is a multi purpose proof also.
