Pan card and legal status for a group formed for religious activities

Me and my friends formed a group named bappa samiti for organising ganpati mahotsav and other relgious events such as chowki jagrata etc now with collections of over 10 lakhs this year . Need to open bank account is a necessity. For that we need pan card my question is what will be the legal status of our group and what all documents we need for pan card

Apply in the status of AOP(TRUST) and you may go for S.12A registration or with it seek exemption under section 10 under relevant provision clauses which I can elaborate if you have any difficulty as this spontaneous answer. The exemption under 12A is difficult to obtain if it is religious activity for a particular community and there are many case laws there are also that may help you in seeking registration and help donors donate to enjoy deduction under section 80G. It is one time registration to be of great value to your trust or opt section 10(23) sub clauses route.
