11 February 2014 Dear Sir,
Whether the proof of DOB is mandatory to enclose with PAN application after 03/02/2014 ?

In case where applicant is illiterate and neither has D.L. wherein his DOB is mentioned. Then what is the procedure in such case.

11 February 2014 Yes it is mandatory.

In case of illiterate persons ask him or her to make an affidavit in the court before the magistrate if he or she does not know what is his or her date of birth and on the basis of that document open a saving bank account and then apply for PAN

11 February 2014 yes proof of Birth is compulsory ..you can submit copy of Birth Certificate or Passport

11 February 2014 Proof of date of birth As per CBDT Notification dt 23-12-2013 ─
copy of,─
(a) birth certificate issued by the Municipal Authority
or any office authorised to issue Birth and Death
Certificate by the Registrar of Birth and Deaths or the
Indian Consulate as defined in clause (d) of sub-section
(1) of section 2 of the Citizenship Act, 1955 (57 of
1955); or
(b) pension payment order; or
(c) marriage certificate issued by Registrar of
Marriages; or
(d) matriculation certificate; or
(e) passport; or
(f) driving licence; or
(g) domicile certificate issued by the Government; or
(h) affidavit sworn before a magistrate stating the date
of birth.
