Paid Advance Tax by Mistake

20 March 2010 Hi.
I am salaried employee and salary is my only income source.

There was an advertisement from IT department about paying advance tax on 15th march 2010 in national dailies.

It said that if balance income tax payable after TDS deduction is more than Rs. 10,000 then employee has to pay the advance tax.

I was not aware that advance tax is paid only in case of other income sources.

Going by advertisement, I paid my balance tax as advance tax on 15th March 2010.

Now my employeer is saying that they have to deduct the TDS as per the rule.

Is there a way by which I can adjust the advance tax against TDS?

OR maybe reimbuse the advance tax if TDS is mandatory?

20 March 2010 only one way that you can claim refund from it department at the time of filing income tax return. There is no other way.

21 March 2010 Sir don't do anything. Just file income tax return after march and claim the refund of paid adavance tax amt.
