20 April 2011 BY OVERSIGHT I HAVE MENTIONED WRONG PAN NO. IN MY ITR THERE IS SOME CLERICAL MISTAKE I HAVE WRITTEN LAST 2 DIGITS AS 34 INSTEAD OF 43.

NOW I HAVE RECEIVED NOTICE FROM INCOME TAX DEPTT FOR WRONG PAN NO. MENTIONING AND THERE IS A PENALTY OF RS. 10000.

PLEASE SUGGEST

20 April 2011 Dont revise your return of income. As per IT act also you can not revise your return of income for such reason. Just write a reply to ITO that the mistake has occured inadvertantly and there is no intention to defeat any provisions of the law or to evade any tax liability. Enclose your PAN xerox copy of the PAN card with reply. ITO while processing , will make the necessary correction in your return of income. No problem.
