04 February 2010 A mutual fund is a professionally managed type of collective investment scheme that pools money from many investors and invests it in stocks.

You can invest in MF by purchasing their units from the market and can gain by way of dividend declared by them or by the increase in the value of the units determined by the Net asset value (NAV)

Every MF declares its NAV almost on daily basis. The main benefits from Investing in MF is that the risk is shared and you can invest your money in the Stock Market.
