If you've sold a plot held for over 20 years and deposited the capital gain into the Capital Gains Account Scheme but failed to reinvest it in a new property, tax liability will arise after three years. As a senior citizen, there are no special concessions for long-term capital gains tax. To withdraw the funds, you'll need Income Tax Officer approval via Form F, and paying the capital gains tax makes you eligible to withdraw the amount.

If an assessee has sold a plot which was held by him for more than 20 years and deposited the capital gain amount in Capital gain account scheme. Also failed to reinvest the capital gain amount into new property. What should be the implication ?

After three years, the tax liability will arise, as earlier. Without which he will not be allowed to withdraw the amount from CGAS, 1988 acc.
