27 June 2026 Can we claim last year TDS ?
TDS deducted on FD interest - 20% (as per PAN ADHAR NOT LINKED) - FY - 2024-25
Now, I am filling return for FY - 2025-26 and I want to claim TDS deducted along with FY - 2024-25. I have not filled IT return for FY - 2024-25.
If answer is yes then let me know how?

27 June 2026 No, they cannot directly claim it in the current year's return. As per Rule 37BA of the Income Tax Rules, 1962, tax credit for TDS must be given for the specific Assessment Year (AY) in which the corresponding income is assessable/reported. Since Fixed Deposit (FD) interest income for FY 2024–25 was assessable in AY 2025–26, the TDS credit can only be claimed against that specific year. It cannot be carried forward to a subsequent year's return (FY 2025–26 / AY 2026–27) simply because the individual missed filing the previous return.

First, link PAN and Aadhaar. Second, submit a Section 119(2)(b) Condonation Request on the e-filing portal to get permission to file the missed FY 2024–25 return and claim the refund.
