31 July 2011 Dear Sir,
last date of filing return is 31/07/2011 but today is sunday. can we file the return off line tomorrow.

31 July 2011 The department is accepting returns today online and at some places at the income tax office also. So today is the last date.

01 August 2011 Income Tax Department is keeping Offices opened on Sunday also. The last date is 31.7.2011 and it has not been extended. Hence, in your case if the return is taxable then your due date is 31.7.2011. If there is any refund then you can file in the next day or month but you will not be allowed interest on the said refund. If tax is payable then interest is to be charged from you. In no case your due date is 1st August,.
