02 December 2009 if i will bring laptop from abroad then upto what limit it is allowed as free.
i think it is free for one laptop bit i want to take 2 laptop for personal use then any taxability arises

pls explain.

02 December 2009 One laptop is free but you will have to pay duty for the second. I suggest you avoid going overboard with laptops purchased abroad. In India these days the service centers of these major brands are attending to warranty of laptops purchased abroad only against proof of foreign residence of the purchaser and do not handle a laptop transferred to another party. Buy it from abroad only if you have proper person here to do chip level repairs or ensure that your warranty is irrespective of residence. That costs more.

02 December 2009 it is free from foreingn residentials who bring 2 laptop for me for personal use
is it so ? or it will be chargeable to tax ven though it belongs to foreign abroad

02 December 2009 one laptop is allowed to bring without tax
& goods of the value of Rs. 50000 so plan the luugage taking the allowed
