09 August 2010 hi i had cleared ca&cwa.i want to work in the financial services industry like investment banking,mutual funds,private equity funds,stock market analysis,private wealth management,credit rating etc.
now i am in chennai.what are the job prospects in chennai in the above mentioned areas?.is there any openings currently available in these fields?.how much salary i can expect( fresher 2 attempts)?

You have not written whether you have some work exposure in the above sectors or not during your articleship period.

If not; first of all join one consultancy firm which is engaged in these areas.

See the newspaper regularly. Chennai is a metro city and enough work exposure is there.

Also post your resume to naukri.com and monster.com etc..

Starting package would depend upon your personal presentation at the time of interview but at least 5 lacs (even 7-8 lacs as you have dual qualifications ) package you will get easily.

Till you find a place in a company of your choice; regularly update your knowledge in the above fields. It will give you benefits.

i dont have work experience in these areas. but i regularly read business news papers,magazines etc...i won many no of business quiz competitions.is it possible to get in to this field without any work experience? what type of work(work profile)will be assigned to a CA in these fields?
please anyone can give me the list of companies in these fields in chennai

11 August 2010 Salary will obviously depend on the position that matches with your experience and qualification though I suppose 10 to 12 lacs p.a. should not be an issue.

My recommendation to you would be to move from Chennai to Mumbai where most of the action take place. After you gain a few years of experience in Mumbai you can then move to another place.

In addition, you should try and do CFA (www.cfainstitute.org) which will give you an edge over others.
