A user successfully navigated the process of switching from filing ITR-1 to ITR-2 to claim long-term capital loss. The solution involved updating income details in their profile before logging out and back in to allow the system to recognise the need for ITR-2. Additionally, a separate query about a disallowed tax relief claim under section 80CCD(2) was addressed, with the advice to file a rectification request due to a potential technical error.

I had filed ITR-1 last year. This year I want to file ITR-2 as I want to book Long term Capital loss for carrying forward. The system pre-filled is ITR-1 only. Utility is not allowing to confirm schedules when i enter all details. How do I change to ITR-2 this year? Why is the ITR offline/online utility not allowing me to file ITR-2?

After login, go to your profile. There under tab. 'Incomes' choose capital gain. Once log out. Re-login for pre-filled ITR, it will allow to choose ITR 2.

Sir, my ITR FY 19-20, I had claimed tax relief under 80ccd(2) up to 10% of basic and was expecting refund. However, the dept has disallowed it without assigning any reason. What could be the reason?
