Is TAN compulsory for issuing form 16?

Whether one can file his returns without TAN of the employer?

what are the conseques if an assessee files his return without mentioning TAN.

12 April 2012 TAN is compulsory while filing the return as well as issuing Form 16. Without mentioning TAN, you would not be able to file the TDS return.

pls clarify in case of Salaried employee

if he dont have form 16 how to file his return of income

13 April 2012 Form 16 is TDS certificate on salary. In case a salaried employee is not having Form 16, he can ask his company to issue salary certificate and on the basis of salary certificate, return could be filed. For ITR Forms for AY 2012-13, please visit www.incometaxindia.gov.in. The forms have been released.
