17 October 2012 sir,

If I have the i) copy of the acknowledgement of the on line I Tax return filed of a client as well as ii) the PAN No. details.

Can I view the i) acknowledgement on the incometaxindia e filing site ii) see the Form 26AS.
I do not have the passsword of the assessee.

18 October 2012 TO view the Form - 26AS, one must have the Use ID (i.e, PAN) and password compulsory.

Without password you can not access the Form 26AS or any other particulars of the assessee.

18 October 2012 if you don't have password but having the acknowledgement no. of the return with you ,then click on 'forgot password'< it will ask you for User Id < Enter you PAN < Now you have 3 options to get your password < Firstly you can enter your secret question you had entered while registeration itself by clicking on enter the secret answer
OR
Click on enter e-filing acknowledment no.and bank account number and fill the page accordingly
OR
Click on enter PAN details and fill the page with required details.
In this way you will get the password and definitely once you get the password you can view Form 26AS.
