I have one doubt.suppose my total income after all deductions is 500000(income from house property).This is my first taxable income,but i have not paid the tax.Then how the government knows ? there are lot of people whose income is more than taxable income,but not paying tax.

As per one estimate only 2% people out of total population of india pays tax. However not paying tax can be detected by income tax department sooner or letter from various sources. Administrative part of income tax department is not so effective and also comparing to population of india men force is not enough. How ever once let CBDT be strong than there will be lesser chance of ignoring Income Tax Law.
