This discussion clarifies the tax treatment of various income sources, including rent, bank interest from Fixed Deposits (FDs), and partner salary, for an individual aged between 60 and 80 opting for the new tax slab. Additionally, it advises that a standard deduction of £75,000 is not applicable to partner salary as it's taxed as business income.
