30 March 2009 I am having a rental income The property tax is paid by the tenant I want to know can I claim the property tax amount in my Income Tax returns as deduction as it is paid by the tenant.

property tax is allowed as deduction from GAV only if
it is paid(i.e. payment made not outstanding )
by owner
during the previous year.

since it is paid by tenant , NOT ALLOWED
