11 January 2016 I have taken home loan for purchase of a house with my son as co borrower .My son lives abroad.I am paying all EMI. .My son does not file income tax return as he does not have any income in India.Kindly guide me .Can i claim total interest and principal amount paid under 80C

11 January 2016 Thanks, the property is in joint name,but I have paid the total amount as EMI every month and principal amount.My son lives in UK and does not file return in India.

11 January 2016 Then u can claim your percentage of share in property in your it return irrespective of source of payment of loan.
