I want to know what is Permit License and how to obtain Permit License for Import of Food products in India.

Whether it is similar to PQ Registration or something else.

30 September 2016 You need to obtain Importer Exporter Code (IEC) from Directorate General of Foreign Trade for export/ import. It is mandatory. Please visit www.dgft.gov.in . In order to know the import policy of your products please refer to ITC (HS) classifications of Export & Imports Items at the same website.

I want to import Chickpeas from Australia and my Customs House Agent is asking for the PQ Registration and Import Permit.

03 October 2016 Import of Chickpeas ( Garbanzos) is freely allowed for import ( exim code 0713 2000). There are no product quota restrictions. Obtain IEC no and import.
