Dear All,
A foriegn company has sent some laptops to its liaison office in India for the purpose of use by its employees in India only and not for trading.
Does the indian office requires IEC code for getting it cleared from customs and if not what should be the process to get this cleared.

as per provision laid down in handbook of procedures vol-1 (2009-2014) para 2.8(iii) the IEC is exempt if they are importing through IEC is not mandatory this condition.
