PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF HRA IN MY SALARY IS 12000/- PER MONTH THAN HOW MUCH REBATE I CAN GET FROM INCOME TAX AT THE TIME OF FURNISHING MY ITR.

14 March 2013 It is depending on the BASIC & DA of you and actual rent payment by you and at which city you are living and the gross salary of you.

So please provide your pay particulars as BASIc, DA, HRA, and others if any and gross salary and actual rent paying by you and the city at where you living for your residency.

And one more thing to claim HRA exemption while filing of ITR HRA exemption should be allowed in your form 16. If in your form 16 HRA deduction not allowed then you can't claim HRA exemption at the time of filling of return of income.

14 March 2013 No, one can claim HRA deduction at the time of filling his ITR if HRA deduction is not allowed in Form 16 by the empoyer.

You would get exemption for least of following three conditions:

1) Actual HRA received by you from Employer

2) 50% of basic Salary for metro/40% of basic salary for non-metro

3) Rent paid by you minus(-)10% of your basic salary.

Please calculate your HRA Exemption and claim the same in ITR if same has not been allowed by the employer.
