09 April 2012 while i am doing bank vouching, if payment made for freight charges, what are the things i have to consider in supporting documents? how to verify it?

11 April 2012 Check the freight invoice / consignment note given by the transporter which gives you an evidence of the amount paid and whether the actual transport is happened or not.
See whether the transporter submitted PAN or not? If the freight is subjected to TDS and no PAN is submitted, then TDS to be made at 20%.
If the payment is made through cash, check the cash voucher and entry in books.
If the payment is made through Cheque, check the bank statement and also the cheque register.
