How to open 26as notebook file

21 September 2011 I have downloaded a 26AS file from my login ID with tin-nsdl.com

The file was provided in a zip folder and of notebook type.
But I have tried many time to open this note book file but it was not opened.

Have any body any idea to open such file?

21 September 2011 The 26AS file is a ZIP file which is password protected. the pass word is normally the date of birth or date of incorporation. It opens with WINZIP 15 and above, which is available for free trail download

21 September 2011 My problem is still not resolved. Winzip software is used to open extract files. But Tin-NSDL team has said to me that your 26AS status is provided in notebook file that is inside the zip folder.

And that is the notebook file which I cannot open.

21 September 2011 If u hav registered in incometaxefiling.gov.in then u can extract ur 26AS file in an easier manner.
Please register ur PAN in www. incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in
then login in
go to MY Account
View 26AS statement
Enter the details in the screen
u will be taken to the NSDL site where u will be able to see the 26As on screen as well as download it as a delimited text file which can be opened in excel using "^" as the delimiter. Please try and post here
