How to Apply for part time COP

16 August 2010 Hai Experts,
Presently i am Chartered Accountant holding COP and joined as a partner in my uncles firm. But i want to Join in Big 4 or other MNC . Can i Join in other organisation with out cancellation of partnership here.
What is the procedure for Part time practice and what form should be submitted to institute.

Please guide me.

16 August 2010 A chartered Accountant can be a partner in two or more firms.

In your case, it is like that you will join Big4 as an employee, so your current COp will be converted from Full Time COP to Part Time COP.

The forms avaialble on the ICAI site are for

Getting COP > Form No. 6
Restoration of COP > Form 101

There is no form for the surrendor of COP or converting Full time ot Part time COP. My knowledge says that just intimate ICAI, through an application for the joining of your employment and request for conversion from Full Time COP to Part Time COP.

Also, in both the forms , it is mentioned that the CA will duly inform the ICAI for cessation of COP. The relevant form is not mentioned for that purpose. So , i think plain application with teh ackowledgement is enough.

16 August 2010 Yes , In my view that is enough.
But submit the copy in duplicate and get the ackowldgement stamp from the ICAI on one copy.
