Housing Loan Income Tax Benefit

03 June 2011 I am paying EMI on a Housing Loan since last 3 years. I have not been able to fully utilise the Tax benefits that the Housing loan allows me as i have other investments and deductions too.
I got married last year and have been thinking if there is a way the Tax benefit of the Loan can be shared between me and my wife so that there is optimum utilisation of this provision the IT authorities have offered.

03 June 2011 No the laon cannot be shared as the property is in single name and the loan also has been taken in single name.

So this type of arrangement cannot be done.
