10 September 2008 1. Has STP units have to file ER-2 to the Central excise? (Notification No.24/2008(non-tarrif))

2. if yes, do STP units need to register with Central Excise also?

17 December 2008 What do you mean by STP unit?
ER-2 is a monthly return in respect of excisable goods manufactured and receipt of inputs and capital goods. This return is applicable for EOU under Rule 12(1) of Central Excise Rules. 10th of the following month is the time limit for filing return.

30 May 2011 Yes. ER - 2 should be filed by STPI Unit as prescribed under Rule 17 of Central Excise Rules, 2002.
