I have applied for GST Registration but the tax officer department rejected the application for want of ownership proof of lessor.
My question is "can tax officer demands ownership proof of lessor", when it is rent. I have already furnished Rent Agreement.
Also can tax officer demands excess documents apart from required for registration mentioned and required to upload on the GST Portal

Hi ,
Since its an rented property, I hope you may provide the electricity Bill as a proof , further it is only to verify the genuinity where in case if its owned then you would have been provided the tax receipt copy.

But the lessor provides rent agreement and the electricity bill is in the name of lessee.

But the lessor provides rent agreement and the electricity bill is in the name of lessee. I think rent agreement is sufficient proof.

If your premises in on rent, kindly upload rent agreement..and electricity bill of Land lord for proof of ownership of house.
