Good Afternoon

We has imported a man lift or boom lift under the HSN code 8428.

we give the said equipment on hire with our operator to clients. we would request you to help us know what is the gst rate applicable for providing such services

11 August 2017 Thanks for your prompt reply. I agree in toto.

But there seems to be some confusion in regards to few saying it is 28% referring to :- Chapter 8428 is classified at serial no 126, Scheduled IV of notification 1/2017 CT (Rate). Which means it is at a tax rate of 28%.

Kindly advise me and guide and explain me.'

11 August 2017 The rate of 28% is for the Lift purchase or sale. If you are hiring the lift then you should not check HSN code you have to check SAC code because you are providing a service. So in your case hiring of Lift is 18% GST.
