Can a U.T high court government employee be involved in the music/entertainment industry? Shouldnt a government employee do something for the betterment of citizens than getting involved in the entertainment business. Asking ppl to subscribe to caller tunes on a TV channel?? Isn't that illegal for a government servant.?? Would appreciate if someone could clear my doubt's here.

depends on your service rules friend.
you need to take permission from sanctioning authority if you are receiving any remuneration for this. Also given that you are court employee, it is important for you to be impartial.

Thanks Nikhil. I was actually asking this bcz of someone else. Wanted to keep myself updated just in case. I m guessing that person is taking royalties for caller tunes for songs and making it a business. My understanding is that a government employee cannot indulge into such activities unless granted permission by the court. If I have to report this to the authorities what would b the procedure??

you cannot say that govt employee is not allowed to do so...you need to check the service rules. the procedure are also provided therein...
