Gift by son to his mother

20 September 2011 A non resident indian want to gift (already taxed in the country that non resident stays) to his mother.

1. Is it taxable in the hands of the mother?

2. If not, how much amount that non resident can gift to his mother?

22 September 2011 The NR Indian can gift any amount commensurate with his income abroad to his mother. It is not taxable in India in the hands of the mother
