Freelancer registration details?

13 April 2010 Hi,
I work as a freelancer for few US and UK clients. I will get the payment via paypal. I don't have any employers.
Should i register as a company or is there any other option to register as a freelancer in india? If yes,can anyone pls let me know - how to proceed further?
Like,where can i get the applications(online)?
And,what will be the total cost(apprx) to do the registration?

If you are talking about registeration under local laws of india, then you should register as proprietorship at initial stage ratherthen as company. you can register under shops and estab.act and open a bank account. regarding regn. it will depend on your tax consultant.

I have just completed my UG degree. Doing Website Design kind of work from Home. My income will be min of 2 Lakhs per annum. I don't want to get any trouble in future.

That's why I'm planning to register and to pay the tax properly.
Could you please tell me - how i can register under shops and estab.act?
What kind of ground work should i do?

I am handling all the works for one of my client doing similar professional work as you are doing. He is also doing work through paypal and google etc. First of all i want to know in which state you are planning to work becoz each state is having their work local laws.
